Mindfulness is the practice of living in the present moment. The human mind is often overwhelmed with a to-do list. As if that were not enough, we also have our to-deal list and then there is the to-get list. Amid all these lists, the human mind feels scattered, flitting from one list to another.

While we are performing one thing, our mind is already jumping on to another thing, the next item on the list to tick off. Consider this! You are in the gym working out and you have a list of 5 exercises to do. You are on your first. While you are physically working on your first, your mind is on to the second, and so on. Pulling back this monkey mind and letting it remain in the present is mindfulness.

While mindfulness may seem like an innate skill, it is not and hence requires training and practice.

Mindfulness is how not to live life on auto-pilot. Studies have shown that the human mind is 47% of the time on auto-pilot.
